Today was a great day. In the morning, a small group of us (about 20 people) left for Gibralter. For anyone who doesn't know, it's a small city on the Atlantic/Mediteranean coast that is the closest point to Africa. It's actually a part of England!
When we first got there, we had a short talk at the chamber of commerece. I learned so much about Gibralter... It's such a silly place... For instance... One of Gibralter's main economic activities is online gaming... and they produce nothing... and they are technically a part of England, but there is an on-going tension between Gibralter and Spain... because Spain thinks it belongs to them. Gibralter recently got their own area code (aka now it doesn't have the same area code as Spain), but in my opinion... this is kind of useless... Now they just have to pay more to make "international" phone calls. Something else I found funny... was their border control... I didn't even need to show my passport... The people in Gibralter speak Spanglish... Like literally. It's quite entertaining.
After our talk at the chamber of commerce, we decided to get fish n' chips. I mean... we were in England afterall. After fish n' chips, we caught a taxi bus to the top of the rock where we got to see monkeys and some really cool caves. Yes I said monkeys!
After returning to Seville, I ate dinner. Liz is visiting this weekend, so I went to meet up with her (my Sevillian friend Elena came with us). It was great to see her! I just can't believe we are both in Spain in the same place at the same time! And tomorrow I'm going to Granada which is where she lives so it's going to be tons of fun : ) I also was walking down the street earlier... and I ran into my friend Regan from home!! What are the chances. El mundo es un pañuelo!
Pero bien... tengo q dormir! Granada bright and early tomorrow!!
